Man, 24, purportedly assaults companion to death
Justice Martins Akinyemi of an Abeokuta Magistrate's Court, yesterday, requested a 24-year-old man, Michael Oyejide, remanded in Ibara Prison authority for supposedly assaulting his 18-year-old companion, Morenike Ajayi, to death.
The prosecutor, Cpl Moshood Hammer, told the court that the denounced and one other everywhere, dedicated the offense on January 8, at Ijeja in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He said: "Around 8p.m., Oyejide, assumed name MI, praised his birthday at Adigbe and a few women were welcomed. Later during the evening, the denounced and one other got the casualty, who is additionally a companion, inebriated.
"The blamed and his companion took the casualty to his home at Ijeja and assaulted her to death." He said they put on a show to be sympathizers and hurried her to the doctor's facility, where she was affirmed dead on entry. "The administration of the doctor's facility reported the case to the Police, which prompted Oyejide's capture," Hammed said.
The Prosecutor contended that the offense contradicted Sections 516, 357 and 358 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006. The blamed, whose supplication was not taken by the court, is confronting a two-check of assault and kill. Akinyemi suspended the case to June 5, pending the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP's recommendation, for further hearing on the matter.
