Pioneers of the Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, drove by Ayuba Wabba, will meet today in Abuja, to fundamentally audit the progressing across the nation strike and challenges to drive government to turn around the N145 pump cost of petrol to the pre-Wednesday 11 cost of N86.50.
The meeting is coming after offers by the President of Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Alhaji Yakubu Dogara, and the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to them to cancel the modern activity and come back to arranging table with the Federal Government.
The Wabba group of the NLC, close by the Joint Action Front, JAF, had, since Wednesday, May 18, set out on an across the country strike and mass challenges. The activity had so far recorded low turn out with laborers in Lagos State, the monetary operational hub of the nation, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and Rivers State, evading the strike.
On Thursday, the initiative of the National Assembly, in a meeting with the factional pioneers, engaged them to cancel the strike. Talking with Sunday Vanguard, General Secretary of NLC, Dr. Dwindle Ozo-Eson, said they would meet today to audit the circumstance and decide the following line of activity, saying, "We will meet tomorrow (today) to survey the circumstance to decide the following line of activity.
After the meeting, a report will be issued on the result." Equally, pioneers of JAF will meet in Lagos today to audit the circumstance, however have made plans to proceed with the activity tomorrow. An instant message by Mr. Abiodun Aremu, JAF Secretary, said the meeting would happen at 2 pm to arrange for how to re-strategise the challenge and mass activity to constrain government to turn around the climb in the pump cost of petrol and electricity tax.
